(Eurasian) Curlew (Numenius arquata) Maçarico-real

An over-wintering and passage migrant, Curlews are far less common in Portugal than Whimbrels with which they are often mistaken. However, the Curlew is an appreciably larger and taller bird and the longer bill is distinctive, both for its length and its pink colour.
