(Common) Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) Galinha-d'água

One of the commonest birds wherever there is a body of water, be it, pond, lake, marsh, stream and even sometimes rivers. However, though common, Moorhens are unassuming and not nearly so aggressive as its cousin the Coot, so is quite often overlooked. The most obvious diagnostic is the broken diagonal white line down its flanks and the bright red base of bill and forehead.
