Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) Íbis-preta

Glossy Ibis' are expanding in both numbers and territory to a remarkable degree. What was a rare and sought-after species even as short as 15 years ago is now relatively common and it is now not uncommon to see flocks of 500 to 1,000 individuals in different places on the south and west coasts. In Portugal it tends to keep to the margins of coastal lagoons, seldom venturing far inland. Juveniles have white flecking on their heads and necks.
