Pied Flycatchers are passage migrants through Portugal, and, though one seldom sees them on their trip north, their migration south again, when they pass through the country in the second half of September, is another matter entirely as they seem to be everywhere one looks, jostling for position with their Spotted cousins.
The males moult to duller plumage before migrating south, so it appears that there are only females passing through here.
