(Greater) Short-toed Lark (Calandrella brachydactyla) Calhandrinha-comum

Greater Short-toed Larks are a clean-chested lark with little or no crest, a brown streaky head, a pale supercilium above the ear-coverts and a Chaffinch-sized beak. They prefer fawn-coloured sandy soil against which they are superbly camouflaged.

A summer visitor, the species can be found throughout Portugal wherever this type of soil is found, notably on the coastline of the Alentejo and western Algarve.
